I've always loved collecting and sorting things. From a very young age I started collecting stamps, and I spent whole afternoons sorting them by country, by theme, and so on. Then I did the same with postcards, books, porcelain dogs, and so on.
With photos I do exactly the same thing: I classify them geographically and by subject. And maybe later they can be turned into books. These are my most outstanding collections.
Ro(vell)
In Tokyo, and by extension in Japan, there are a lot of old houses where people still live. These houses are usually from the Showa era, and are made mostly of wood with iron elements. These elements are almost always rusty; hence the name of the collection in its original Catalan: old (vell) and rusty (rovellat). This kind of abandonment is very attractive to me to take pictures of; a material documentation of the decrepitude of not only the lives of the inhabitants but of the very dwelling where they live.
