When you arrive in Kyoto by train, you arrive at a state-of-the-art station, and you think “just like Tokyo”. But when you start walking through its streets, and you visit the most symbolic temples and places, you realize that you are not. Kyoto has a very different atmosphere to Tokyo. Enjoy the modern elements of the 21st century, but, at the same time, preserves the most emblematic elements of traditional Japan. And one of those elements is the kimono.
Unlike Tokyo, you can see kimonos everywhere. And unlike Tokyo, young people wear them a lot. The reason is very simple, having not been bombed by the Americans in World War II, Kyoto retains many historical monuments. And young people rent the kimonos to be photographed in front of the most typical places.
They come in all colors, types, designs, and are worn by both men and women. And this year, everyone has to add the mask, also in line with the designs.
